DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1943 (APR) STATION IS LOCATED ON A HIGH HILL IN THE W EDGE OF THE CITY OF AKRON. IT IS AN EIGHT-LEGGED STEEL WATER TANK ABOUT 150 FEET HIGH AND PAINTED DARK GREEN. IT IS ABOUT 100 FEET E OF A LARGE STANDPIPE. THE POINT OBSERVED ON WAS THE SMALL BALL ON TOP OF THE TANK. TO REACH FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 21 AND STATE HIGHWAY 261, GO E ON HIGHWAY 261 (WOOSTER AVENUE) FOR 4.75 MILES TO WOOSTER AVENUE TANK ON THE LEFT. THIS IS AN INTERSECTION STATION. RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1963 (VBM) THE STATION WAS RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. THE TANK IS NOW PAINTED BLACK. THE DESCRIPTIONS ARE ADEQUATE.
