DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1951 (LWS) STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 2-1/2 MILES SOUTH OF THE SOUTH CORPORATION LIMITS OF AKRON ON A HILL NEAR WHAT IS LOCALLY KNOWN AS HOHMANS LANDING, ABOUT 0.5 MILE NORTH OF WILLOW VIEW DRIVE AND 0.2 MILE EAST OF VIONA DRIVE, ON PROPERTY OWNED BY MR. BENTLEY SCARBOROUGH. IT IS 15 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF A CONCRETE STUCCO BUILDING AND 6 FEET WEST OF A 12 INCH POPLAR TREE. THE MARK IS ABOUT 2 INCHES BELOW THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND AND THE DISK IS STAMPED HOHMAN 1951. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS IN A SMALL VALLEY ABOUT 6 FEET LOWER IN ELEVATION THAN THE STATION AND IS 7 FEET WEST OF A 12 INCH POPLAR TREE. THE MARK IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND AND THE DISK IS STAMPED HOHMAN NO 1 1951. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS 10 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE CONCRETE STUCCO BUILDING AND 1 FOOT WEST OF A FENCE LINE. THE MARK IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND AND THE DISK IS STAMPED HOHMAN NO 2 1951. NO AZIMUTH MARK WAS SET AT THIS STATION. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 93 (MANCHESTER ROAD) AND STATE HIGHWAY 619 (TURKEYFOOT LAKE ROAD) WHICH IS ABOUT 3-1/2 MILE SOUTH OF THE SOUTH CORPORATION LIMITS OF AKRON, GO EAST ON HIGHWAY 619 FOR 1.5 MILE TO A PAVED T ROAD LEFT (SOUTH TURKEYFOOT ROAD) TURN LEFT, NORTH, ON PAVED ROAD FOR 0.8 MILE TO A GRAVEL CROSSROAD (WILLOW VIEW DRIVE), TURN RIGHT, EAST ON GRAVEL ROAD FOR 0.1 MILE TO A LANE ON THE LEFT, TURN LEFT, NORTH, ON LANE FOR ABOUT 0.05 MILE TO A FORK IN THE LANE AND THE STATION ON THE LEFT AT THE TOP OF A KNOLL AS DESCRIBED. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 1 METER. RECOVERY NOTE BY US GEOLOGICAL SURVEY 1957 STATION HAS BEEN BULLDOZED DOWN AND IS NOT IN EVIDENCE. HILL HAS BEEN CUT DOWN IN BUILDING A HOUSE, AND ONLY REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 WAS STANDING.
