DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1950 (PLB) THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 2.0 MILES WEST OF TWINSBURG ON THE NORTH SIDE OF STATE ROUTE NO 82 ON THE HIGH POINT OF A SMALL KNOLL IN A CULTIVATED FIELD AND ON LAND OWNED BY MR. FLANAGAN HOUSE # 1634 AURORA ROAD WHO LIVES JUST SOUTH OF STATION IN LARGE BRICK HOUSE. IT IS 48 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER OF STATE ROUTE NO 82, 12-1/2 FEET NORTH OF WITNESS POST AND 43 FEET NORTHWEST OF POWER LINE POLE.#3000-116 IT IS STAMPED TWINSBURG 1950 AND SET 1 FOOT BELOW THE GROUND SURFACE. 5/2004, 23 FEET NORTHEAST OF A HYDRANT REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS SOUTHEAST OF THE STATION, SET IN THE APPLE ORCHARD OF MR. LONGS FRUIT FARM 21 FEET SOUTH OF RAIL FENCE LINE. IT IS STAMPED TWINSBURG NO 1 1950 AND SET FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE. REFERENCE MARK NO 2 IS SOUTHWEST OF THE STATION, SET IN THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE APPLE ORCHARD, 2 FEET EAST OF NORTH-SOUTH RAIL FENCE LINE AND 12 FEET SOUTH OF EAST-WEST FENCE LINE. IT IS STAMPED TWINSBURG NO 2 1950 AND SET FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS ABOUT 0.25 MILE EAST OF THE STATION, SET IN THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF CULTIVATED FIELD, 45 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER OF STATE ROUTE NO 82, 2 1/2 FEET NORTH OF WITNESS POST AND ABOUT 10 FEET WEST OF EDGE OF WOODS. IT IS STAMPED TWINSBURG 1950 AND PROJECTS 4 INCHES. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE ROUTES NO 82 AND 91 AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT IN TWINSBURG, GO WEST ON STATE ROUTE NO 82 FOR 1.95 MILES TO THE AZIMUTH MARK ON THE NORTH SIDE AS DESCRIBED, CONTINUE WEST ON STATE ROUTE NO 82 FOR 0.25 MILE TO THE STATION ON THE NORTH SIDE IN CULTIVATED FIELD AS DESCRIBED. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 33 METERS. RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1951 (LWS) THE STATION AND ALL MARKS RECOVERED AS DESCRIBED AND FOUND IN GOOD CONDITION. THE ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION SUBMITTED IN 1950 ADEQUATE. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK - 30 METERS. RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1977 (JRS) THE STATION MARK, REFERENCE MARKS 1 AND 2, AND THE AZIMUTH MARK WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. DIFFERENCES IN DISTANCE OF 0.037 METER SHORTER TO REFERENCE MARK 1, 0.039 METER SHORTER TO REFERENCE MARK 2, AND 1 MINUTE 10 SECONDS LARGER IN DIRECTION BETWEEN REFERENCE MARK 1 AND 2 WAS NOTED AND VERIFIED AT THIS TIME. DUE TO POWERLINES OVERHEAD, A TOWER COULD NOT BE ERECTED OVER THE STATION, THEREFORE, REFERENCE MARK 3 WAS ESTABLISHED AND OCCUPIED. A COMPLETE NEW DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS. THE STATION IS ABOUT 2 MILES WEST OF TWINSBURG, ON THE NORTH SIDE OF STATE HIGHWAY 82, ON THE HIGH POINT OF A SMALL KNOLL IN A HAY FIELD, AND OWNED BY MR. WILLIAM F. LONG, BOX 161, MACEDONIA, OHIO 44056, TELEPHONE NUMBER 467-7341. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 480 AND STATE HIGHWAY 82 ABOUT 1/2 MILE WEST OF TWINSBURG, GO WEST ON HIGHWAY 82 FOR 1.05 MILES TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT JUST PAST A CHRYSLER PLANT ON THE LEFT. CONTINUE WEST ON HIGHWAY 82 FOR 0.2 MILE TO THE AZIMUTH MARK ON THE RIGHT. CONTINUE WEST ON HIGHWAY 82 FOR 0.15 MILE TO THE STATION ON THE RIGHT. STATION MARK, STAMPED---TWINSBURG 1950---, IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT THAT IS 12 INCHES BELOW THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 50 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER OF THE HIGHWAY 82 AND 44 FEET WEST OF THE POWER LINE POLE. REFERENCE MARK 1, STAMPED---TWINSBURG NO 1 1950---, IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT THAT IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND. IT IS 55.5 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER OF HIGHWAY 82, 5.5 FEET SOUTH OF A RAIL FENCE AND 4 FEET EAST OF A 20-INCH MAPLE TREE. REFERENCE MARK 2, STAMPED---TWINSBURG NO 2 1950---, IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT THAT IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND. IT IS 42 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER OF HIGHWAY 82, 39 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER OF A DRIVEWAY AND 1 FOOT WEST OF A RAIL FENCE. REFERENCE MARK 3, STAMPED---TWINSBURG 1950 NO 3 1977---, IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH ROUND CONCRETE MONUMENT THAT IS 24 INCHES BELOW THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 129.5 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER OF STATE HIGHWAY 82 AND 123 FEET NORTHWEST OF A POWER LINE POLE. AZIMUTH MARK, STAMPED---TWINSBURG 1950---, IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT PROJECTING 3 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND. IT IS 44.5 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER OF STATE HIGHWAY 82 AND 0.5 FEET NORTH OF A METAL WITNESS POST. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE THE STATION MARK WAS 1.3 METERS. NOT RECOVERED 2016. THE FIELD HAS BEEN LEVELED AND THERE ARE NOW SOCCER FIELDS AT THIS LOCATION.
