DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 AT AKRON, NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF CENTER STREET AND BROADWAY STREET, LOCATED NEAR THE SOUTH CORNER OF COURT HOUSE LAWN, 45.8 FEET EAST-SOUTHEAST OF SOUTH CORNER OF THE COUNTY JAIL, 57 FEET NORTHWEST OF SOUTH CORNER OF COURT HOUSE LAWN, 20 FEET SOUTHWEST OF SOUTHWEST EDGE OF SIDE WALK LEADING TO SOUTHEAST ENTRANCE TO JAIL, 1 FOOT NORTHEAST OF SOUTHWEST LAWN CURB LINE, AND IS A 1/8-INCH METAL PIN IN THE TOP OF A SANDSTONE POST 1 1/2 BY 1 3/4-FEET PROJECTING 3 1/2 FEET ABOVE GROUND. THE PIN IS PROTECTED BY A HINGED METAL CAP WHICH CLOSES TO COVER PIN. THE MARK IS REFERRED TO AS SOUTH MERIDIAN MONUMENT AND IS SAID BY CITY OFFICIALS TO BE POINT ON WHICH ALL CITY DATUM IS BASED.
