Description of Location

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1963 (VBM) THE STATION IS THE CENTER OF THE TOP OF THE TOWER, LOCATED ABOUT 5.0 MILES NORTH OF THE CENTER OF DOWNTOWN AKRON, AT 3474 AKRON, CLEVELAND ROAD (RT. 8). IT IS A SELF SUPPORTING, THREE LEGGED STEEL STRUCTURE, PAINTED IN ALTERNATE SECTIONS OF INTERNATIONAL COLORS OF RED AND WHITE, WITH A FLASHING RED LIGHT ON THE TOP. THE OVERALL HEIGHT ABOVE THE GROUND IS 355 FEET. THE TOWER IS OWNED BY ALLEN T. SIMMONS CORP. AND IS OPERATED BY THE WADC RADIO STATION OF AKRON.
