DESCRIBED BY CITY OF AKRON OHIO 1963 (VBM) THE STATION IS ABOUT 3-1/2 MILES EAST OF DOWNTOWN AKRON, 0.35 MILE WEST OF DARROW ROAD, 0.25 MILE SOUTH OF EASTWOOD AVENUE, IN THE GOODYEAR HEIGHTS METROPOLOTIAN PARK. IT IS ABOUT 0.2 MILE EAST OF A HEAVY TIMBER COVERED HILL. THE STATION IS ON THE SOUTHWEST PART OF THIS HILL. THE MARK IS A CITY OF AKRON DISK STAMPED PARK SET IN THE TOP OF A 6 INCH SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT 4 INCHES BELOW THE SURFACE OF A 3 FOOT SQUARE OF CONCRETE AND COVERED WITH A 9 INCH IRON COVER. TO REACH FROM THE INTERSECTION OF BRITTAIN ROAD AND EASTWOOD AVENUE, GO EAST ON EASTWOOD AVENUE FOR 0.9 MILE TO A SIDE ROAD RIGHT LEADING TO A PARKING LOT. TURN RIGHT AND GO SOUTH AND WEST FOR 0.05 MILE TO A GATE AT THE WEST SIDE OF THE PARKING LOT. PASS THROUGH THE GATE AND TURN LEFT AND GO SOUTH-SOUTHEAST FOR 0.3 MILE TO THE STATION. RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1964 AT AKRON, ABOUT 0.9 MILE EAST ALONG EASTWOOD AVENUE FROM THE INTERSECTION OF BRITTAIN ROAD, THENCE 0.35 MILE SOUTHEAST CROSS-COUNTRY TO THE HIGHEST POINT ON HILL, ON THE GROUNDS OF THE GOODYEAR HEIGHTS METROPOLITAN PARK, ON THE SOUTHWEST PART OF THE HILL, AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST 4 INCHES BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE GROUND ACCESS TO WHICH IS HAD THROUGH A 9 INCH CAST IRON COVER MARKED AKRON SURVEY 1963.
