Description of Location

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1963 (VBM) THE STATION IS THE CENTER OF THE BASE OF THE FLAGPOLE, LOCATED ON THE ROOF OF THE CLOCKTOWER AT 200 MARTHA AVENUE, ABOUT 2-1/2 MILES SOUTHEAST OF DOWNTOWN AKRON. IT IS A METAL FLAGPOLE PAINTED SILVER. THE OVERALL HEIGHT ABOVE THE GROUND IS 240 FEET. A TRAVERSE CONNECTION WAS MADE TO TRIANGULATION STATION CLOCK, THE DISTANCE BEING 3.545 METERS AND 11.63 FEET. RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1967 (WMR) STATION RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. THE 1963 DESCRIPTION IS GOOD. RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1976 (DMF) RECOVERED AS DESCRIBED IN GOOD CONDITION. AIRLINE DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FROM NEAREST TOWN--AT AKRON.
