DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1951 (LWS) STATION IS LOCATED IN THE SOUTH CENTRAL SECTION OF AKRON, ABOUT 100 YARDS WEST OF ARLINGTON STREET AND 75 FEET SOUTH OF FIRESTONE BOULEVARD. IT IS A STEEL STANDPIPE, ABOUT 125 FEET HIGH AND 75 FEET IN DIAMETER AND IS PAINTED BLACK. THE POINT OF INTERSECTION WAS A METAL BALL AT THE APEX OF THE ROOF OF THE STANDPIPE. RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1962 (VES) STATION RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION AS DESCRIBED. RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1963 (VBM) THE STATION THE CENTER OF THE TOP OF THE STANDPIPE, LOCATED ABOUT 2-3/4 MILES SOUTHEAST OF DOWNTOWN AKRON, 300 FEET WEST OF THE INTERSECTION OF SOUTH ARLINGTON STREET AND GEORGIA AVENUE AND 109 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF GEORGIA AVENUE. IT IS A STANDARD METAL STANDPIPE PAINTED IN ALTERNATE SQUARE SECTIONS OF ORNAGE AND WHITE AND HAS A RED LIGHT AT THE CENTER OF THE TOP. THE OVERALL HEIGHT IS ABOUT 120 FEET. A TRAVERSE CONNECTION WAS MADE FROM TRIANGULATION STATION SOMOGY THE DISTANCE IS 82.3 FEET AND 25.08 METERS. NOTE- THE SAME AS AKRON, FIRESTONE BLVD MUNICIPAL STANDPIPE, 1943. RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1967 (WMR) STATION RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. THE 1963 RECOVERY NOTE IS GOOD.
