SEIBERLING, AND APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET S OF THE ENTRANCE OF THE GATE TO THE SIEBERLING ESTATE RESIDENCE. THE STATION IS SET 49 FEET W OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER LINE OF NORTH PORTAGE PATH, 42 FEET S OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER LINE OF GARMAN ROAD, AND 26.1 FEET S OF THE S EDGE OF A TRAFFIC-STOP SIGN ON THE S SIDE OF GARMAN ROAD. THE DISK IS 14 INCHES BELOW THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND AND IS STAMPED AKRON 1943. WITH 6 INCH VCP PIPE SET ON TOP STATION AND UNDERGROUND MARKS ARE BRONZE DISKS SET IN THE TOP OF CONCRETE POSTS, SIMILARLY FOR REFERENCE MARKS. REFERENCE MARK 1 IS 142.80 FEET SE OF THE STATION, 25 FEET E OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER LINE OF NORTH PORTAGE PATH, AND 1.5 FEET NW OF AN OHIO BELL TELEPHONE POLE. IT IS A BRONZE REFERENCE DISK, WITH ARROW POINTING TO STATION, AND IS STAMPED AKRON NO 1 1943. REFERENCE MARK 2 IS 140.96 FEET NW OF THE STATION, 76 FEET W OF STONE FENCE CORNER, 26 FEET N OF APPROXIMATE CENTER LINE OF GARMAN ROAD, AND 1.0 FOOT S OF THE STONE FENCE SURROUNDING THE RESIDENCE PROPERTY OF THE SIEBERLING ESTATE. IT IS A BRONZE REFERENCE DISK, WITH ARROW POINTING TO STATION, AND IS STAMPED AKRON NO 2 1943. NO AZIMUTH MARK WAS ESTABLISHED FOR THIS STATION. TO REACH STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF ROUTE 18 (TALLMADGE AVENUE) AND NORTH PORTAGE PATH, IN THE CITY OF AKRON, GO N ON NORTH PORTAGE PATH FOR 0.75 MILE TO THE INTERSECTION OF GARMAN ROAD. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK - 30 METERS. RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1950 (PLB) OBS MADE FROM A 90 FOOT STEEL TOWER. THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 3-1/2 MILES NORTH-NORTHWEST OF THE CENTER OF AKRON IN THE SOUTHWEST ANGLE OF NORTH PORTAGE PATH AND GARMAN ROAD AND ON PROPERTY OWNED BY MR. F.A. SEIBERLING. IT IS 49 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER OF NORTH PORTAGE PATH, 42 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER OF GARMAN ROAD AND ABOUT 100 FEET SOUTH OF THE ENTRANCE TO THE SEIBERLING ESTATE. IT IS STAMPED AKRON 1943 AND SET 14 INCHES BELOW THE GROUND SURFACE. REFERENCE MARK NO 1 IS SOUTHEAST OF THE STATION, 25 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER OF NORTH PORTAGE PATH AND 1-1/2 FEET NORTHEAST OF POWER LINE POLE. IT IS STAMPED AKRON NO 1 1943 AND PROJECTS 6 INCHES. REFERENCE MARK NO 2 IS NORTHWEST OF THE STATION, 76 FEET WEST OF STONE FENCE CORNER, 26 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER OF GARMAN ROAD AND 2 FEET SOUTH OF STONE FENCE LINE. IT IS IT IS A REFERENCE MARK DISK, STAMPED LEVEL NO 1 1943 PROJECTING 4 INCHES. (NOTE 11A) STAMPED AKRON NO 2 1943 AND PROJECTS 6 INCHES. NO AZIMUTH MARK WAS ESTABLISHED FOR THIS STATION. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE ROUTE NO 18 (TALLMADGE AVENUE) AND NORTH PORTAGE PATH IN THE NORTHWEST SECTION OF AKRON, GO NORTH ON NORTH PORTAGE PATH FOR 0.75 MILE TO INTERSECTION WITH GARMAN ROAD AND STATION IN SOUTHWEST ANGLE AS DESCRIBED. STATION WAS RECOVERED AS DESCRIBED IN THE 1950 DESCRIPTION AND ALL MARKS WERE FOUND IN GOOD CONDITION. THE 1950 DESCRIPTION IS ADEQUATE. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 30 METERS DISTANCE AND DIRECTION TO OBJECTS VISIBLE FROM THE GROUND RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1963 (VBM) THE STATION, REFERENCE MARKS 1 AND 2 WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. THE DISTANCE TO REFERENCE MARK 1 WAS FOUND TO BE .04 FOOT SHORTER THAN PREVIOUSLY MEASURED. THE DISTANCE TO REFERENCE MARK 2 WAS FOUND TO BE .15 FOOT SHORTER THAN PREVIOUSLY MEASURED. THE DIRECTION TO REFERENCE MARK 1 CHECKED. THE DIRECTION TO REFERENCE MARK 2 DID NOT CHECK BY 1 MINUTE AND 9 SECONDS. THE DESCRIPTIONS ARE ADEQUATE. THE STATION IS NOW ON THE PROPERTY OF MR. J.A. HAUSER. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 30.52 METERS.
