Description of Location

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1977 (JRS) THE STATION IS THE AIRPORT BEACON ATOP AND NOT CENTERED OF THE AKRON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT CONTROL TOWER. IT IS A OCTAGON SHAPED TOWER, WHITE AND BLACK IN COLOR AND APPROXIMATELY 70 FEET HIGH. IT IS LOCATED ABOUT 3.5 MILES SOUTHEAST OF AKRON, ALONG EAST SIDE OF THE AIRPORT, 53 FEET WEST-NORTHWEST OF THE WEST CURB OF STATE HIGHWAY 241, AND AT THE SITE OF TRIANGULATION STATION SPORTS 1943. DESCRIBED BY D.C FRAZIER, TYPED BY B.R. LEWIS.
